FRANCE - REUNION ISLAND - MOSQUITOS - DENGUE - CONTROL
Saint-Denis, Reunion Island, France, 2021-05-17. Giovanni Cartin is the person in charge of the Northern sector of the Reunion Island. Each time a test is positive for dengue in the medical analysis laboratory, he receives an e-mail and his team calls the patient back. Faced with the resurgence of dengue cases, the vector control services of the ARS Indian Ocean continue to be on the alert to identify and eradicate epidemic outbreaks. In recent weeks, about 1600 cases are to be investigated each week, much more than usual. In Reunion Island, the concern about this epidemic, which has been going on for 4 years, seems to be more important than in Covid, especially since several people between 30 and 50 years old have died of haemorrhagic forms, a very rare occurrence until now.
